HOME EFFICIENCY REBATES

ENERGY REBATE FAQ

What is the Home Efficiency Rebate?

The Home Efficiency rebate is a program for homeowners who choose home energy upgrades including insulation, air sealing, windows, doors, furnaces and boilers. These rebates are available for Union Gas/Enbridge clients who own a detached, semi-detached, or row townhouse. The total maximum rebate for the program is $5000 which includes the audit fee reimbursement.

Step by Step Process

Step 1

Contact and select an approved/certified energy auditor to conduct the pre-upgrade assessment. The energy auditor will perform an energy assessment of your home and provide you with recommended upgrades, which the homeowner can decide which upgrades to install. Two upgrades must be performed in order to qualify for the rebates. You will be reimbursed as part of the rebate up to $550 for the Energy Assessment itself.

Step 2

Hire professional contractor, Healthy Insulation, to perform your insulation upgrade. You have 120 days after your pre-energy assessment to install upgrades and conduct final assessment.

Step 3

Have the energy auditor conduct the post-upgrade assessment within the 120 days to check performance and submit paperwork for your rebates, which will be received within 60 days.

Will My Home Qualify for Insulation Upgrades?

Generally speaking, homes built prior to 2000 will have R35 or less in their attic space and will be able to qualify for the insulation upgrade. You will then have to perform one other type of upgrade such as air sealing. Please see below for detailed rebate information.
